In terms of Metrel Power Quality Analysers, two type of clamp are available:
Class A or Class S - which do I need?
Class S (Survey standard) power quality analysers are suited to basic troubleshooting of electrical power systems and recording of long term power quality events. IEC 61000-4-30 specifies the degree of accuracy required for the measurement of the quality of electrical networks. The standard differentiates between the equipment classes. Events such as voltage dips, swells, sags, harmonic and inter-harmonic components and others can then be uploaded to a PC for further analysis and report creation.
Class A power quality analysers are built to a higher standard and accuracy than Class S analysers and are suited to the most complex electrical systems. They can detect , record and analyse voltage dips, swells, sags, harmonic and inter-harmonic components and transients and other power quality events with ease and to a level considered appropriate in cases of billing or litigation. The instruments are 3rd party certified.
